Lauren underwood for congress
This is by far the most rewarding and challenging work I’ve ever done. My marketing and branding experience was put to good use on the campaign, launching a new website, producing photo shoots, developing merch, and overseeing social media content. Over the years, we hosted hundreds of events, drove in dozens of car parades, opened 5 new offices, and hosted President Biden…twice! Through it all, it was my job to make sure it happened on schedule, on budget, and most importantly, centered the constituents of IL-14.
This is just a fraction of what we accomplished.
Lauren in the house 2020 drive-in rally
This was one of the biggest productions of the 2020 cycle and one of my favorite memories. After scouting the perfect location in the heart of our district, I brought in a production partner to secure 60ft digital screens and build out a stage. Attendees were gifted swag bags curated with goodies from local vendors, and Lauren stopped by each car to do a polaroid selfie with each group.
We kicked off the night with video montage of supporters, including a performance by Joan Jet, then ended with a screening of SURGE — a documentary that followed Lauren’s successful 2018 bid for congress.
THE VAN — this became my second home during GOTV, traveling every corner of the district. The van was like another member of the team, functioning as a yard sign distribution hub, greeting supporters on the road, and showing up to every event possible. Of course it was wrapped with our logo, social handles, and a reminder to vote by election day!
When the pandemic hit in March 2020, campaigning as we knew it was over. That meant turning house parties into virtual parties! I built a mobile studio that we could set up in the host’s backyard and livestream to our audience via Zoom. Using a phone to push the livestream, and two laptops and lav mics to capture both the host and Lauren, we were able to safely engage with supporters in ways that otherwise wouldn’t be possible.
